The order of wedding reception
The reception usually proceeds in this order:
- While the bridal party are off on location being photographed, the guests arrive at the reception venue where they are served light refreshments.
- The Guests are seated in the reception venue and the Mc announces the bridal party entrance.
- The MC asks the guests to stand as they announce the bride and grooms entrance.
- MC asks everyone to be seated.
- Grace is often offered before the meal is served. Either by the celebrant or the father of the bride.
- The meal is served
- MC welcomes the guests and announces the first speaker, usually the father of the bride
- MC announces the next speaker, usually the father of the groom
- Father of the groom speaks and toasts the family of the bride
- MC announces the third speaker, usually the best man
- The best man speaks and delivers a toast to the bridesmaids.
- MC announces the third speaker, usually the best man
- .The groom thanks everyone for coming and toasts his beautiful bride
- Telegrams and messages are read, either by a family member or one of the bridal party
- MC announces dessert. If the wedding cake is dessert then this is usually done before the speeches.
- MC announces the cutting of the cake and the bridal waltz.
